Level 0 · Prerequisite

Recommended prior education — this level holds no programmes at all. It is highly recommended to hold an HND (Higher National Diploma) and/or a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent knowledge, before starting a Cortex programme. It is a recommendation only: it is never enforced, and there is nothing to enrol in here.

Recommended prior education

It is highly recommended to hold an HND and/or a Bachelor's degree — or equivalent knowledge gained on the job or self-taught. Neither is checked or required at enrolment; they simply describe the level of study our programmes are pitched at.

Bachelor's degree
A Bachelor's degree is the standard undergraduate qualification, typically three to four years of full-time university study in a single field. We recommend it because our programmes assume you are comfortable reading technical material, working independently to a deadline, and carrying an argument from evidence to conclusion. Read more
HND — Higher National Diploma
A Higher National Diploma is a two-year, work-focused higher education qualification that sits below a full Bachelor's degree and is widely accepted as equivalent to its first two years. We recommend it because it delivers exactly the hands-on, practice-first grounding our taught phases and labs build on. Read more

Level 5 · PD·Habilitation

Level 6 · PD·Chair

Level 7 · Apex · Ω

Level 8 · Top Laureate · ✦

Top Laureate — the Supreme-Honorary level above the Apex, conferred by recognition and marked with the Δ sign. Not a programme; nothing to enrol in.

What this level is · how it's reached

What it is
The Supreme-Honorary crown above the Apex (Ω), marked with the Δ sign — the university's highest standing.
How it's reached
Reach a discipline's Apex first, then be proposed by the academic committee for a sustained body of verified original work — publications, mentorship and field impact.
Format & standing
Honorary and permanent; no fixed length, no taught phases, no fee.

Conferred by recognition — there is no programme to enrol in at this level.

Level 9 · Delta · Δ

Future and upcoming technologies — the yearly keep-current iteration over the Apex (variable, 4 weeks to 3 months), published from the second year onward; the year count shows as N1–N9. Black-diamond gem; not offered by any programme yet.

What this level is · how it's reached

What it is
The keep-current level over the Apex — future and upcoming technologies revisited every year (the yearly Delta update).
How it's reached
Held by a Top Laureate who completes the yearly Delta update at least once; the year count shows as N1–N9.
Format & standing
A variable 4-week to 3-month iteration, published from the second year onward; black-diamond gem, renewed yearly.

Conferred by recognition — there is no programme to enrol in at this level.

Level 10 · Special · Δ¹⁰

Special — the ultimate level: the Delta update completed ten years in a row. Permanent and held for life; not a programme.

Verifying you are human…

How it's conferred

This standing is conferred, not enrolled: it is earned through a sustained body of verified original work — publications, mentorship and field impact — reviewed and proposed by the academic committee. Reach the Apex (Ω) first through a discipline's post-doctoral ladder; the honorary crown then recognises continued excellence beyond it. From there, each further rung follows in strict order: reach Top Laureate before Delta (Δ), and Delta before the Special standing.
